What’s scarier than Ghosts and Goblins? 🎃

It’s that time of the year, and you know what that means: sugar, sugar, sugar! Beginning in late summer, stores start tempting us with sweet and treats conveniently packaged in small, easy to eat servings. By the end of October, we’ve been snacking through candy corn and “fun-sized” candy bars for weeks.

All holidays have their food traditions, but Halloween wins the prize for being the most focused on sugary candies. And no matter how hard you try to avoid it, once it’s in the house, you’ll find yourself playing with the idea to snack on one or two small treats.

Will you give in?

One piece of candy won’t break your health, but few of us stop at just one. All too often, we welcome Halloween just as we do every other festive occasion from Thanksgiving to our neighbor’s backyard cookout – a perfectly good time to indulge in sweet temptations.

Indulgence can take a toll on your waistline. We get older each year, and every January, it’s going to be harder to lose the holiday weight.

Use a food tracking app.

My recommendation is to use a food tracking app. A good fitness app will keep you on track, helping you to know how many calories you should consume daily to either maintain or lose weight – and pay attention! Paying attention to data is essential if you’re going to get the results you want.

Make this holiday about Family, Friends, and Fun, not about food.

Plan your day; think about the journey, stay on track. That’s the road to success. Plan your portions; don’t overindulge; pass on the calories before you eat it.
