Bad news …excessive sweating does not burn a significant number of calories! ?

I know it feels like it, especially after a sweaty workout session or a long run in the hot weather. You might lose a couple of pounds on the scale, but that’s only temporary because you lost a lot of fluid through the sweat.

Sweating is the body’s natural way of regulating body temperature. It does this by releasing water and salt, which evaporates to help cool you down. Different people have different numbers of sweat glands and some people sweat more than other. It can be genetics and depends on the lifestyle. Men’s sweat gland are more active then women’s and therefore sweat more. Other factors are heat, exercise intension and duration, alcohol consumption the night before, smoking, caffeine, excessive weight and clothing choices.

Just to be clear, sweating is good for you! It releases toxins, supports the immune system, cleans the pores and boosts your mood. It’s a natural detoxifier and you should sweat daily.

But please don’t believe that you can lose weight with sweating. Sweat belts or sauna suits don’t work. It’s a nice thought, but a waste of money. The only method that supports weight loss is a regular exercise routine and a healthy diet. I said it before and will say it again. ??
