I was at Trader Joe’s yesterday. As you can imagine, it was jam-packed – a pretty good look for a Monday!! With Thanksgiving coming up, our daily celebrations are all about food every day.
I didn’t grow up in the US, and as much as I enjoy the holiday, I don’t have the childhood memories associated with the goodies and traditions. So, I’m going to be bold with my advice on how to survive the holidays: BE REALISTIC!
It’s great to have a festive Thanksgiving meal…go for it!
Pay attention though to the days before and after. Those are the ones that might get you into weight trouble. You don’t need to overindulge on high caloric coffees, alcoholic drinks, or cute desserts. Thanksgiving should not be an excuse to let eating get out of control for a couple of days.
I know there is the morning after feeling but BE REALISTIC. You will feel sluggish and demotivated to get back on track. If you are not in your 20’s anymore, it’ll take you more time than two or three days to get rid of the holiday weight.
BE REALISTIC! Plan for at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, drink your water, eat a breakfast, and get your beauty sleep.
If you want to look and feel good, you need to make your choices. You can’t take a holiday from taking care of your body.
